Notice of Special General Meeting

Dear Member,

The Committee hereby calls a Special General Meeting at the Seven Stars Hotel on Thursday 10 October at 8pm.

The purpose of the SGM is to agree on proposed alterations to our existing Constitution.

As background, our existing Constitution was written over 25 years ago and is not fit for purpose in 2024.

The proposed alterations focus on three key areas:

1. Updating or removing outdated language and norms. Examples are:

- We are removing - "providing accommodation”; "employing clerks, managers and servants”; "issuing bonds, dentures, bills of exchange, promissory notes”, “Honorary Membership”.
- We are updating - “Chairman” becomes “Chair”, "Vice-Chairman" becomes "Vice-Chair”

2. Updating clauses to allow for the appropriate running of the Club. The existing Constitution is unworkable and, indeed, has not been followed for a number of years. There are numerous examples of where the old Constitution is unworkable or not practical. Examples of alterations that are being made:

- Removing the requirement in the existing Constitution for the PAOCA Committee to approve members (ie players) in each case.
- Removing the requirement for the PAOCA Committee to appoint the Chairman and Vice Chairmen.
- Removing the current requirement for the President of the PAOCA to sit on the PAOCCC Committee of Management.
- Including an “Executive” in the new Constitution to allow for quicker decision making, with decisions made by the Executive to be subject to ratification of the full Committee.
- The existing Constitution requires the Coach to be the Chairman of Selectors. This has not been standard practice for many years. This is changing to allow the Committee flexibility to appoint the most appropriate person as COS.

3. Changing Life Membership criteria to clarify the definition of a “match” for Life Membership. The new Constitution will now state that Life Membership will include T20 games and one day games. The Committee believe it is important to clarify that a two day game counts as 1 full match for Life Membership, a one day game counts as 0.5 and T20 counts as 0.25. There has been much discussion about this in recent years and the Committee believes that we have broad agreement within the Club on this matter as proposed.

Vale Grant William Dalwood

PAOCCC is deeply saddened by the passing of former player Grant William Dalwood. Grant played 35 games for the club including winning the 1986/87 C-Grade batting trophy with 254 runs.

More recently Grant has been an avid spectator at many games with his sons James and Will being heavily involved in many premierships and James serving as club chairman.

PAOCCC wishes to pass on it's deepest condolences to James and Will and the entire Dalwood family. Grant will be missed.
